Cavity Treatment

Prevention and early recognition: minimally invasive cavity treatment

The formation of cavities is a complex process caused by bacteria, food (especially sugar), and plaque build-up over time. Good oral hygiene and regular dental cleanings can hinder this process – despite which only 1-2% of humans are free of cavities, the most common disease worldwide.

In order to recognize and treat the first signs of cavities, we recommend regular check-ups every six months and x-rays every two years. We recommend x-rays because only approximately 70% of the surface area of your teeth is visible to the eye, and the most common places for cavities are in the invisible spots between your teeth. If there is an area of the tooth where repair is needed, we treat cavities with the upmost precision and sensitivity. Our work is minimally invasive and accompanied by the least amount of discomfort possible.

Synthetic Fillings, Ceramic Restorations, and Crowns

Depending on the size of the cavity, we select the correct filling and care for you. The simplest form of tooth restoration is with composite ("white filling"). This synthetic material is an excellent metal-free and aesthetically-pleasing choice for tooth restorations.
As an alternative we also offer ceramic restorations. Ceramic restorations are longer-lasting and stronger than other synthetic materials, and are preferred when a large portion of the tooth has already been lost.

If there is only a small part of the original tooth left, the only way to preserve the tooth is rebuild it with synthetic material and then put a crown on it. For crowns we have a variety of materials available for different prices. During an in-depth discussion, we can recommend the best solution for your individual case.
